THE REPORTER | A fire hit a residential area in Simpang Kiri District, Subulussalam Village, Subulussalam City, Aceh, Friday (04/10/2024) morning.
The incident, which occurred at around 06.30 WIB, burned down 12 houses, 9 of which were severely damaged, 2 moderately damaged, and 1 slightly damaged.
As a result, 11 heads of families (KK) consisting of 44 people lost their homes.
The Head of the Subulussalam City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reported that one fatality was found in this fire. The victim, M. Zikri, a 17-year-old male teenager, died in the incident. Until this news was published, data collection regarding the number of evacuees was still being carried out.
The Subulussalam City BPBD moved quickly by deploying four fire engines and one water tanker to the scene. Thanks to the quick efforts of officers, the fire was successfully extinguished at around 07.20 WIB, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Meanwhile, the Disaster Management Operations Control Center (Pusdalops PB) of the Subulussalam City BPBD continues to monitor post-fire conditions and coordinate to provide assistance to affected residents.
This fire adds to the long list of disasters that have befallen residential areas in Aceh. The Aceh BPBD appealed to the public to be more vigilant about the potential for fires, especially in the ongoing summer season.[AR]
