THE REPORTER | A ship suspected of carrying Rohingya immigrants was reportedly seen drifting in the waters of South Aceh Regency, Friday, October 18, 2024.

Until now, the refugees are still in the middle of the sea because local residents have not allowed the ship to dock.

However, the South Aceh South Sea Commander together with related stakeholders have distributed logistical assistance in the form of food and drinks to the Rohingya ethnic group.

Meanwhile, the Aceh South Sea Commander Miftach Tjut Adek said that the ship carrying Rohingya immigrants in the waters of South Aceh is suspected of belonging to local residents from Labuhan Haji Barat District, South Aceh Regency.

“The previous owner with the initials Md from Meukek District, was bought by Ih from West Labuhan Haji (the ship carrying Rohingya immigrants),” said Panglima Laot Aceh Miftach Tjut Adek, in Banda Aceh, Friday night, October 18, 2024.

The ship, he said, was bought by Ih from Md about 20 days ago, for the name of the fishing motorboat itself Bintang Rezeki.

“Bought 20 days ago, the name of the boat is Bintang Rezeki,” he also said.

Miftach has not been able to explain in more detail regarding the motorboat, because when the ship was seen there were no crew or trawls. It is still being studied by the authorities.

“Seeing a ship without crew and trawls. Later the authorities will study it,” said Miftach.[AR]
