THE REPORTER | The Banda Aceh Police Criminal Investigation Unit has uncovered the murder case of a student from West Aceh that occurred in Gampong Jeulingke, Syiah Kuala District, Banda Aceh, Saturday, October 19, 2024.
The Banda Aceh Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Fahmi Irwan Ramli through the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, Senior Commissioner Fadilah Aditya Pratama said that the victim was first discovered by his younger sibling who had just returned to his boarding house from buying breakfast.
The victim, Dhiaul Fuadi (20), was found dead in a pool of blood by his younger sibling, Fidhaul Fuadi (19) with a stab wound to the neck using a knife.
“The witness had difficulty opening the boarding house door as if something was blocking it. “Next, the witness peeked through the window and saw his older brother lying in a pool of blood,” said Kompol Fadilah in a press conference at the Banda Aceh Police Headquarters, Monday, October 21, 2024.
Fidhaul then reported this finding to the boarding house owner and local residents, which eventually led to the police, who immediately came to the location to conduct an investigation.
With the identity and characteristics of the suspect, in less than 24 hours they managed to arrest the perpetrator, on Sunday morning, October 20, 2024, at around 03.00 WIB at the Peudada Dormitory in the Kuta Alam District area, Banda Aceh.
“The perpetrator we arrested was ZF (20), a student from Bireuen. In addition, there is evidence in the form of his Fazzio motorbike, including a kitchen knife that was used to stab the victim,” explained Fadilah.
To the police, he continued, the suspect ZF admitted to having killed the victim.
“He did this because he was afraid of being caught by the victim when he was about to steal the cellphone in the boarding room,” explained Kompol Fadilah.
The perpetrator’s goal, he continued, was to steal the cellphone because he needed money. However, because he was afraid of being caught by the victim who was sleeping, he was determined to kill the victim.
“The perpetrator took a kitchen knife that was there and stabbed the victim three times, twice in the neck and once in the shoulder. Then the perpetrator fled on his motorbike, the cellphone that he wanted to steal was left behind and failed to be stolen,” he said.
The Head of Criminal Investigation added that previously the perpetrator, who knew the victim’s younger sibling, had stayed at the boarding house several times.
The arrival of suspect ZF to the victim’s boarding house was questioned by another witness, Hendriansyah (30), who is the son of the boarding house owner.
Padi at the time of the incident, the witness was burning garbage in front of the victim’s boarding house. He saw Fidhaul leaving the boarding house using his Beat motorbike.
Not long after, Hendriansyah saw an unknown man (later known to be suspect ZF) arrive in front of the boarding house on his tosca green Fazzio motorbike.
“The witness reprimanded the perpetrator and asked where he was going, the perpetrator pointed towards the victim’s boarding house. The witness then said that the victim’s younger sibling (Fidhaul) had gone out,” said the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit.
However, the witness saw the perpetrator enter the boarding house yard on his motorbike, then not long after came out again on his motorbike.
“When the victim’s younger sibling came home, that’s where the victim was found dead,” explained the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit.
The former Head of Operations for the Bireuen Police added that the perpetrator’s arrival and departure were recorded on a neighbor’s CCTV camera, which helped the police uncover this case.
Until now, the murder case is still being further handled by the Banda Aceh Police Criminal Investigation Unit. Where, the perpetrator was charged with Article 338 of the Criminal Code or Article 340 of the Criminal Code
“With the threat of a prison sentence of fifteen years or twenty years in prison, this case is still being investigated further,” concluded the Head of Criminal Investigation, Commissioner Fadilah Aditya Pratama.[AR]
