THE REPORTER | The Nagan Raya District Attorney’s Office, Aceh Province, carried out the caning sentence on 11 people convicted of violating Islamic law in the yard of the local District Attorney’s Office, Suka Makmue Office Complex.
“The 11 convicts we caned had previously served their sentences at the Meulaboh Prison, West Aceh Regency,” said the Head of the Nagan Raya District Attorney’s Office, Aceh, Djaka Bagus Wibisana to reporters in Suka Makmue, Friday (5/10/2024)
Djaka Bagus Wibisana said that of the 11 violators of Islamic law who were caned, two convicts of adultery with the initials SH and ZN, were caned 100 times.
In addition, six online gambling convicts were also executed with eight lashes, consisting of AN, MD, TY, SI, SS and AZ.
Meanwhile, another convict with the initials RP was caned four times because he was proven to have committed the crime of maisir (gambling).
The prosecutor also executed two convicts for the crime of khalwat (indecent acts) to MW and MA, each of whom were caned six times.
Djaka Bagus Wibisana hopes that the people of Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh, can stay away from actions or jobs that are against Islamic law and sharia, so that they do not have to undergo caning punishment.[AR]
