THE REPORTER | Flash floods and landslides hit Central Aceh Regency on Tuesday night (8/10/2024), causing four fatalities from one family.
According to information from the Central Aceh Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), this disaster occurred in Celala District, precisely in Gampong Arul Gading and Gampong Ramung Ara, at around 22.20 WIB.
The four victims who died have been successfully evacuated by a joint team from BPBD, Basarnas, TNI, and Polri. They are Caisar Sofian (28 years old), Putri Amanda (26 years old), Sofia Putri (10 years old) and Ghibran Naufa (5 years old).
“The four of them are one family who were buried in a landslide in their house. The search for victims has been carried out since Tuesday night and now all victims have been found,” said the spokesperson for the Central Aceh BPBD, Wednesday (9/10/2024).
This incident was triggered by extreme weather that hit the area, causing a landslide to bury the access road to Pepalang-Berawang and causing one house to be destroyed.
“Meanwhile, another family had to evacuate to the local meunasah because their house was affected by the flood,” he added.
BPBD Aceh Tengah has also deployed a Rapid Reaction Team (TRC) to the location to conduct data collection and assist in emergency response to evacuate affected residents.
A number of heavy equipment, including wheel loaders and excavators, were deployed to clear the landslide material that covered the access road to Kampung Ramung Ara.
